Torch

Today the people of North Vancouver were able to witness the olympic torch come through the city. It was quite an exciting event, with massive crowds of energetic people. Personally I'm quite excited for the olympics to start. Sure, there will be those inconveniences here and there, but come on, this is a once in a lifetime experience. Why not just make the most out of it? Live a little :D

  1. I'm going to comment on your blog post while the photo loads ('Cuz the damn computers work by the hour or something ridiculous like that), and the olympic is a nice touchy subject. There's been so much inconvenience, and so much right neglect that I really can't say I'm all too pleased with the way the olympics have been conducted. Exhibit A: The homeless situation. We've basically put them in a shelter and restricted their leave so the media doesn't advertise them. Now, except for the restriction, I think this is a very good thing. Except, that immediately after the olympics, we are expelling them back onto the street. What good does that do? It's like when the queen came to visit.
Exhibit B: Traversing through the First Nation land. We stole away with the inukshuk as an olympic symbol as if that much was supposed to pay off the First Nations for the route we took. The problem? If the inukshuk is used, it can't hold its original value.
Finally, look at the money we're putting into the olympics in the state we're in. We're still sitting in a recession, the funding to the schools have been cut! Cutbacks have been made to the health care, the transport routes, and the like, which is where we need to put our money to get us out of the recession. Way to go, Vancouver.

P.S. The photo will not load in the library.
