Skiing

*THIS POST IS FOR JANUARY 31 2010

It's now Sunday, the last day of the Big White trip. I had quite a bit of fun during these past few days. Sure, there have been ups and downs, but that's life. Heck, that's skiing, just going up and coming back down. Like I mentioned before, life would not be the same if everything was flat snd mundane. Overall, I'd say that I'm glad I went on this trip. Had some laughs and enjoyed the company of friends.

Nice view

*THIS POST IS FOR JANUARY 30 2010

There's something incredible about standing on a mountain top, overlooking the world below. Today I went skiing for the first time in about 6 years or so. I wasn't good at it then, and I certainly wasn't good today. But I still managed to have a good time. I managed to take this picture in the midst of having snow blowing in every direction. I still don't know how that works, so I'll just say that it was some form of mountain-magic

Mess

*THIS POST IS FOR JANUARY 29 2010

It's currently 930 on Friday night, and I'm just sitting here in the hotel room with a buddy. Meanwhile outside, teenagers run rampant through the halls. Not gunna lie, tonight has been a real pain. About an hour earlier one of my other roommates brought in a very intoxicated friend over due to health concerns. She ended up vomitting quite a bit so we had to care for her for the rest of the night. That is, until she was taken away in an ambulence. Great fun.

Here we go

Well now, it seems like just yesterday that I was blogging about geting fired up for Semi. Time really flies eh? Anyways, I'll be heading out to Big White this weekend, so naturally I probably won't be able to update the blog. HOWEVER, do not fear, dear readers. I will take a digital camera and take some sweet photos during the trip, as long as a video, which will be posted to my Facebook. I will also be blogging on my iPod touch in the form of a note, which I will copy and paste to a blog post when I get back. So pretty much, I'll still be taking, posting, and reflecting on a pic everyday, I just won't be able to upload it because I don't have the necessary equipment with me...unless someone wants to lend me a Macbook, SDCH card reader, and access to the internet lol

Hugs all around

Just got back from The Night Of Shooting Stars at Windsor's theatre. I'll be honest, I was pleseantly surprised by how well the music sounded in that room. The perfromances were simply fantastic, and I''m sure everyone was having a great time. I managed to snag this photo of James and Devon during the intermission :P

Variety

What it is it about variety that is so appealing to us? As I was taking this photo, I jokingly thought about the proverb, "variety is the spice of life." Yeah I love puns :P Nah but seriously, this really makes me think about what life might be like if everything was always uniform, with no discrepancies. I assume that eventually we would get bored and/or go mad. I guess I'm just trying to put a reason on why life has its ups and downs. Now by no means am I trying to suggest that drama is necessary in life. I'm just saying that a little change in a regular pattern can be a good thing in the long run.

Epic Tea is Epic

So I got this English project due tomorrow that I still have to finish, so i thought I might get myself a nice cup of tea. Only thing is, I don't really like hot drinks, or even hot foods for that matter. That's why adding cold milk to tea is such an awesome concept. i mean it cools down the tea, and it looks so cool when you poor in the milk and the tea's all like "WOOSH!"

Ambience

So today I wasn't sure at all in terms of what I was going to post on my blog, so I just took my camera and tripod and walked through the house. I ended up in the living room where my parents were just talking and having a glass of wine. Thing is, this wasn't for any particular reason except to just unwind and relax. It really made me realize how much they teach me without even teaching me

Somewhere,

For the firtst time in a long time, I actually saw a rainbow. Not gunna lie, rainbows are quite a pain to successfully photograph lol. But yeah, I think this turned out ok. I just love how something as simple as water in the air can make something s beautiful. The first thing that came to mind was the Wizard of Oz. I haven't watched that film in ages, but seeing this just brought all these sights and sounds back

Always fresh

There aren't many things in life that are better than going to a Timmie's to get a donut and coffee. Today I biked down to the closest Tim Hortons with a buddy and we just chilled there for quite a while. It's a nice way to relax after something like semi formal lol.

Suit up!

Alrighty, it's finally the big night. I actually have to leave my house in about 3 minutes, so this will be quick. I'm quite excited for tonight, not quite sure what to expect, but I'm still stoked nonetheless. W00t grad 2010!

Om nom nom

I'll be honest, I really have an unhealthy obsession with toast. I just love toast, like any time of the day. I took this photo around 11pm lol. Now mind you I don't just eat it as it is, I usually add lil something like jam. I just thing that it's kinda neat how the concept of toast hasn't changed for several decades. Wait, according to google, centuries. So yeah, that's pretty incredible :P

Carpe Diem

I thought I would mix things up a little, so I took a photo before school today. One thing I like about this time of year in Vancouver is how late the sunrise is. Like seriously, this was around 7:45am. I would love to be one of those "morning people" but I just can't get myself out of bed naturally. Thank goodness for the invention of the alarm clock though. You'd be surprised by just how much you can accomplish by waking up early. For that matter, I haven't just carelessly slept in for several months now. I just find that after about 8-9 hours of sleep, anything beyond that is just a waste of time. Might as well make the most of every day, right?

Something's not right here

It's currently 9:30pm on a Monday night, and I feel like I'm going slighty insane. I'm usually not one to get all stressed, but this time feels different. I've got a considerable amount of homework to do, a test to study for, photos to edit & publish, and I'm sitting here blogging about it instead working. I also have to loose weight to fit into my semi dress lol jk. But seriously folks, I do have good news. I submitted that photo of me with "super powers" to a shooting challenge on Gizmodo just for fun. Turns out that I won lol. So if you wanna check that out, head on over to http://tinyurl.com/yjfwf5n

What is music?

If you saw yesterday's photo, you would know that I was in downtown Vancouver. Now this may come as a surprise, but I was actually there to go shopping *GASP!* lol but yeah, I went to the HMV there and picked up some new vinyl records just for the sake of being awesome.

~WARNING, INCOMING RANT~

For the first time in a long time, I feel like I had too much that I needed to purposly innconvenience my life. Let's be serious here, anyone can get any digital media almost instantly without leaving a mark in their wallets. Add to that the abilty to be able to store thousands of songs in one's pockets, and music really becomes just an extension of the body. Just for a moment, try to imagine a life where music is exclusively live. That's the way things were until the past century or so.

Now I guess what I'm wondering is if this loss of appreciation for music is a discrace and shame, or simply an inevitable evolution in what music is defined as.

Cold Day

Today I was out in Vancouver bussing around and what not, and at one point I came across this one man playing his Oboe by the entrance to a Skytrain station. I dropped in a few coins and then we talked for a while. By the end, I just asked if I could take a few photos of him, and he was totally cool with it. Now you may notice that red cloth over his instrument, which it turns out was to shield it from the elements of Vancouver weather. Neat eh?

Super Powers

So today I found out that I had the ability to run super fast. I set my camera on a tripod and set the self timer for two seconds, and then I made it all the way over there. Oh, and that blue line, that's me. You know, I think I just might try joining track and field this year ;D

Get Fired Up!

For those out there wondering, yes, that really is my corkboard. As a kid, I was just too cool have an ordinary corkboard like everybody else. I just had to make something unique, and it has served me well to this day. Anyways, as seen in the picture, that corkboard is where I often keep important things, like tickets. The next few months should be quite interesting, seing as life in high school will end in a matter of months. Yeah, then what? As much as I'd like to just stay and chill in high school, life works through something called progress

Love

A lot of things happened today, and some of those events were more unfortunate than others. Instead of having me ramble on and on, I thought I would let this verse do all the talking today

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails and now these three remain. Faith, Hope and Love. But the greatest of these is Love.

Smile

First of all I want to thank Brennan for being such a good sport and allowing me to post this on here. Anyways, I was out shooting at the sr boys basketball team this evening, and took my camera into the court for a few minutes during that intermission-ish time period. I find that those times are really some of the best, most genuine moments at a basketball game. You don't have to deal with any BS referees or fouls, it's just awesome

Apple's real CEO

So I thought I would have a little fun with today's photo, so I had to find some way to be extra creative, and this is what came of it. Steve Jobs is sooo last decade. It's time to bring in someone fresh and new

Resourcefulness

A while back I found myself needing more room for my stationery, so I looked around my room to see what I could find. In the end I decided to use a cup holder meant for a car and stuck it on the edge of my drawer. I then proceeded to take a dusty holiday mug and fill it up. And now there's an easy and quick way to access my pens while making more room on my desktop. Mission accomplished

Shiny

Since when was public transportation associated with uncleanliness? Was it always a compromise? Or was there a time when busses were the latest and greatest? It seems like today I can't go to a bus stop without seeing either a can of beer, cigarette butts, or other miscellaneous items. Then when the bus finally shows up, I climb aboard to be greeted by a delightful aroma. Was it always this way, and could it ever change?

Stormy Weather

Growing up in North Vancouver, rain's always seemed to be a regular factor of life. It almost seems like there are only two seasons, warm summers and wet winters. I honestly love the rain, and I'm not even being sarcastic. Sure it kinda sucks when you're going out and you get all wet and damp from the rain, but that's inevitable. But you can still admire is the beauty of the rain. Few things in life make me happier than seeing my own reflection on concrete like the picture here

What If

I can't even begin to fathom how much more productive I could be if I could sleep that much each night. It's kinda neat to sometimes think about a crazy reality where nothing makes sense. Before you knowitfdknkdbfand you're back. But what if this isn't even reality to begin with? To me the film The Matrix was more than just an action movie, it really got me thinking. On the other hand; however, René Descartes was known for the statement, "I think, therefore I am." So when you find yourself caught between two sides, just think for yourself!

Trippy Turtle

No turtles were harmed in the taking of this photograph, just in case anyone was worried. I actually picked up this fantastic guy at my church when we had an opportunity to buy goods from the Fairtrade Foundation. If I remember correctly, I believe this turtle is from Malaysia, so it's come quite a long ways. I'm not quite sure what it is about it, but I just love it. Maybe it's the way it houses lonely candles, maybe it's the wee little markings all around it, I'm not sure. But I got a feeling that this turtle isn't leaving anytime soon

Planning Ahead

Today I was walking to the washroom when I saw my mom chopping vegetables hours after dinner. This could only mean that tomorrow would be some kind of soup or stew. It then got me thinking about the amount of dedication she puts into our family, and I'm very thankful. It seems like the less time I have before a deadline, the more I keep putting it off lol. But seriously, just because the future is unseen doesn't mean that preparations can't be made.

Self Portrait

I've never been a fan of self portraits, so I'll be starting with something a little unique. No offence to anyone, but I refuse to ever point a camera at my face and take a picture. It may perhaps capture the moment, but that's about it. There's nothing more to it. For some people that might be perfectly fine, but I unno, it just kinda bugs me lol. As for the shot posted here, I got quite a few weird looks from people passing by. It's not everyday when you see a guy holding up an umbrella, motionless, with a camera on a tripod pointed at the ground. But hey, I've once been mistaken for a corpse when I was lying on my stomach taking pictures of grass

Focus

It's 9:30 on the sunday night before school starts again, and I'm only starting to open my books. If you're reading this now, it probably means that you, the reader, are also procrastinating when you should be doing something, be it homework, a project, studying, etc. In the photo the focus is on the books, and I really wish I could get my mind to do the same (stupid Rogers ad). Point is, everyone procrastinates. The important thing is knowing and following through on your priorities, and in my case, it's updating this blog :D

Dinner

So today I went out to dinner at this Greek restaurant and it was fantastic. I really have a thing for like Mediterranean cuisine. So I got there and saw that candle, so i took out my camera and there we go. On a related note, I think this whole new years resolution thing is going pretty well, I mean, all day today, I was thinking about what to post on my blog. It really got my eyes and mind in that whole photographic mode, and it's a great feeling. I'm really looking forward to seeing how this entire thing goes

Blast from the past

Yeah, sorry for the extremly cliche title. Anyways, today I got my parents' old record player, and I absolutly love it! Like holy shit man, words cannot describe how much I love having it now. I got a few of my dad's old jazz records, which he actually bought in japan and brought them here 20 years ago. And it wasn't like all at once, these are the records he bought growing up and as an adult living in Japan. I unno, I just have this little obsession with retro gadgets lol

introduction

To anyone who may be reading this,

Hello! This is my personal blog, and it is here where I will be making a daily post as to fulfill my 2010 New Years Resolution. I intend on taking, publishing, and reflecting on a photo every single day. It may be just a photo from a walk in my neighbourhood, it may be little picture from my cell camera, who knows. Point is, this is my choice, and I will follow throiugh with it :D
